     Ellie A Pioneer Girl's Journey West 1845

What would it be like to live in Mid-West America in 1845 –before the Civil War? And how would a family migrate from New York state to the Northwest Territory wilderness of Michigan –by covered wagon?

Following a distant relative’s journal, Mr. Cumings placed his grandchildren fictionally into that family, and followed them on this journey.

When her folks decide to leave her comfortable world and head west, ten year old Ellie faces adventures beyond her wildest imaginations. Her insatiable curiosity mixes with fears and excitement of the unknown.

Incidents of muggers, thieves, crashing storms, being lost, endless struggles all combine with exciting places, the wild wonder of the wilderness, awe inspiring Native Americans, …..

Yes, I'm Dean Cumings, author, historian, and all-around nice guy. Hmmm…

Yep… The site of our new book, Ellie A Pioneer Girl’s Journey West 1845.

This site will describe some of what we’re doing now, since I’m supposed to be retired. I don’t really believe in so-called retirement. Rather I prefer to call it “re-tryment.” Which means—if truth be told—I’m busier now than before.

Finally, I’m catching up on several projects, some of which were started years ago and some we just initiated –projects such as writing to be published, sorting and utilizing photography, getting rid of a myriad of books, sporting gear, and leftovers. Of course, downsizing is always hard when we move from a large house to an apartment/living area, in a Walton’s style Grandma-Grandpa live-in with Kids and Grandkids (yes, at their request.)

Product Description

After the death by fire of my 3-1/2-year old son, our house became haunted. Voices in closets.Footsteps walking up and down stairs. Lights going off and on. I was ripe to accept Satan's invitation to a spiritualist church, where I could visit with my dead son. Satan's devices are subtle, disguised as God in heaven. I was Satan's puppet for five years. Ouija boards, Tarot cards, tea leaf readings, seances, necromancers. Lev. 19:31 referred to me as a medium with familiar spirits, difiling those I channeled for. Duet 18:10-12 said I was an abomination to the Lord, as I sought information from the dead. Later, I realized these loved ones were demons. My three spirit guides were taking me down the wide road to Hell. As a child I grew up in poverty. I was molested, raped, and conceived through rape. A life of rejection has given me compassion for those going through the same thing. Being a pastor, I have asked God for the outcasts. I'm reminded of the fishermen who were unclean and stank of fish. Then Jesus said to them, "Follow me." These men are still making history. With unconditional love, we are seeing lives change. At the end of five years serving him, Satan tried to kill me, but God saved me. Now I share my story in hopes of helping others. Cora Grace (Kirby) Goldman born in Blanchard, Michigan.
